| Bravo! Goes Mad for Maddin in March |

Bravo! celebrates acclaimed Canadian director Guy Maddin with four nights of his surreal and striking films. Inspired by silent and early sound films, Maddin favours melodramatic moods and characters in his work. Mad for Maddin kicks-off with an episode of Bravo!FACT Presents highlighting Maddin’s short films beginning March 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The 30-minute episode precedes the Canadian television premiere of the feature film Brand Upon the Brain!. Mad for Maddin continues with Teardrops in the Snow, The Saddest Music in the World and the Emmy® Award-winning dance program Dracula: Pages from a Virgin’s Diary.

Bravo!FACT Presents celebrates Guy Maddin by showcasing a selection of his Bravo!FACT(Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent)-funded shorts including Fancy, Fancy Being Rich, The Saddest Shorts: A Trip to the Orphanage, The Saddest Shorts: Sissy Boy Slap Party and The Saddest Shorts: Sombra Dolorosa. The 30-minute episode also includes interviews with the innovative filmmaker.

Together with his teenaged sister and a horde of orphans, a young man lives under the watchful eye of his tyrannical mother and secretive father in a lighthouse that also doubles as an orphanage. This semi-autobiographical silent film, written and directed by Guy Maddin, premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.

An on-set visual diary documenting the making of Guy Maddin's The Saddest Music in the World, starring Isabella Rossellini, Mark McKinney, and Maria de Medeiros.

Set in Winnipeg, Manitoba during The Great Depression, this musical comedy spotlights a beer magnate’s competition to find the saddest piece of music in the world. Guy Maddin directs Isabella Rossellini, Mark McKinney, Maria de Medeiros, David Fox, and Ross McMillan.
DRACULA: PAGES FROM A VIRGIN’S DIARY
Bravo! Television Premiere – Saturday, March 22 at 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT
Guy Maddin combines avant-garde cinema and spectacular choreography in this dramatic interpretation of Bram Stoker's original story. Based on Mark Godden's celebrated Royal Winnipeg Ballet production, this tale is shot in black and white with splashes of colour, and set to the music of Gustav Mahler. Dracula: Pages from a Virgin’s Diary won the 2002 International Emmy for Best Performing Arts Program.
