Music’s Biggest Stars Shine on the 2007 American Music Awards Sunday, Nov. 18 on A-Channel

Funny man Jimmy Kimmel returns as host of the 2007 American Music Awards, broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on A-Channel The three-hour, star studded event is the first to be broadcast live from L.A.’s newly constructed Nokia Theatre.

Announced this month, nominations for the 2007 American Music Awards see Canada’s punk-princess Avril Lavigne, fresh off her performance on Canadian Idol this summer, nominated for “Favourite Female Artist” and Canadian rock royalty Nickleback receiving a nod for “Favourite Band, Duo or Group”. Leading the pack with three nominations each are chart-toppers Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Linkin Park and Daughtry. Following close behind are Akon, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flats, T.I and Bone-Thugs-And-Harmony nabbing two nominations each. Rihanna and Maroon 5, who also graced the Idol stage this summer, both received nominations along with Timbaland, Fergie and John Mayer.

To help celebrate the show’s 35th anniversary, and for the first time in American Music Awards history, fans in the United States will decide who goes home a winner by voting for their favourite artists online. Voting is open up until Nov. 9, with the winners announced live on the Nov. 18 broadcast.
