For the second time in less than four months, 'The Canadian Kid' Steve Molitor will attempt to defend his I.B.F. World Junior Featherweight title live on TSN, this Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 p.m. ET.
The fight, entitled Rumble at Rama II, is also available in High Definition on TSN HD and on-demand on TSN Broadband at www.TSN.ca.
Molitor, who was born in Sarnia, ON, and now lives in Toronto, has a 24-0 record (including 10 knockouts) heading into this fight against 33-year-old Fushang 3K Battery of Thailand. Fushang, also known as Narongrit Pirang, brings a 58-8-1 record into the scheduled 12-round bout.
Rod Black will provide play-by-play of the fight, with TSN's resident boxing expert and host of In This Corner, Russ Anber, as ringside analyst for the network's broadcast.
In July, Molitor defeated Takalani 'The Panther' Ndlovu of South Africa in a nine-round TKO at the inaugural Rumble at Rama, to retain the I.B.F. World Junior Featherweight title. In doing so, Molitor made history by becoming the first Ontario-born boxer to defend a world championship title on home soil.
The Rumble at Rama events mark the first two occasions in which TSN has produced and televised world title fights.
Molitor is once again dedicating his title fight to the men and women in the Canadian Forces. As such, arrangements have been made for the Canadian troops in Afghanistan, the North Sinai desert in Egypt, and the Netherlands to watch the TSN broadcast via satellite on Canadian Forces Radio and Television. An announcement will be made at the start of the fight honouring the Canadian troops overseas.
The title match, taking place at Casino Rama, in Rama, ON, also features a number of additional undercard bouts. The event is being promoted by Orion Sports Management.
Rumble at Rama II is part of an ongoing partnership between TSN and Casino Rama, which includes the upcoming Casino Rama Curling Skins Game on December 8 and 9 live on TSN, and the recently completed 2007 Degree Poker Championship.
