| CTV to Develop Canadian Edition of So You Think You Can Dance |

Get your dancing shoes on Canada - So You Think You Can Dance is coming your way. CTV, together with 19 Entertainment, Ltd and dick clark productions, announced today it will develop, produce and broadcast So You Think You Can Dance Canada, an all-new Canadian version of the hit international series.
In the latest deal for CTV at MIPCOM, the Canadian format rights to the series were secured from 19 Entertainment, Ltd. and dick clark productions, co-owners of the format. The deal was completed in Cannes, France today between Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. and 19 Entertainment's Simon Fuller, creator of the series. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Canadian version of the series is based on So You Think You Can Dance, the Emmy Award-winning, hit program created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe that premiered in 2005. Canada now joins the United States, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Turkey and Israel as markets with an original So You Think You Can Dance production. Original versions of the series are also currently being produced in Australia, Poland and Malaysia and soon in Scandinavia as well. So You Think You Can Dance is a Top 3 summer series in Canada on CTV with an average audience of 1.25 million viewers.
"The joy of dance is at the center of So You Think You Can Dance Canada," said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. "But it's also about the passion and energy of young dancers from across Canada and their dreams to excel in this art form."
"So You Think You Can Dance is a strong and proven TV brand," said Simon Fuller, creator of the series. "It has been on top of the US summer ratings for three seasons now. We have a simple formula that kids and TV audiences love. The franchise extends beyond just the TV show and includes a 50-city, sold out tour every year, including a yearly stop in Toronto. I have had a fabulous relationship with CTV over the years with a number of hit shows including Canadian Idol and American Idol. I am hoping that our partnership continues for many more years to come".
So You Think You Can Dance Canada will embark on a nation-wide search for Canada's favourite dancer. The new series will follow a similar format to its hit cousin, Canadian Idol: talented dancers of all shapes and sizes will compete to impress an expert panel of judges with their moves during a cross-country audition process. The dancers who spark the judges' interest will be invited to call-backs where they will work with some of Canada's top choreographers. The judges' will then choose the Top 20 dancers who will continue in the competition. Then, it's up to Canada to decide who stays and who goes as the public will vote for their favourites following weekly performance episodes in which the dancers are assigned different partners and dance styles to perform in competition, including hip-hop, krumping and popping to salsa, quickstep and jive.

So You Think You Can Dance Canada follows in the footsteps of Canadian Idol, which premiered on CTV in 2003. Widely respected as one of the most innovative Idol formats in the world, Canadian Idol went on to become the most-watched, English-language Canadian television series since the advent of electronic measurement. The series, which just completed its fifth season, remains Canada's No. 1 summer series.
