NFL on Rogers SportsNet Kicks off Sunday!

Rogers Sportsnets

Rogers Sportsnet kicks off its coverage of the 2007 NFL season Sunday, September 9 with a 4:00 p.m. ET/ 1:00 p.m. PT twin-bill featuring the Seattle Seahawks at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet Ontario and Sportsnet HD and the Chicago Bears on the road in San Diego to face the Chargers on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific.

Sportsnet’s beefed up coverage of the NFL includes the addition of NFL insider Chris Landry who will appear in a regular segment Mondays and Thursdays on Sportsnet Connected.

An outstanding evaluator of talent (Landry was an NFL scout for over ten years), Landry currently operates his own scouting consulting business where he serves as a scouting consultant on NFL and College players to several NFL teams. He is a regular on Fox Sports Radio as an NFL and College football analyst. USA Today recognized Landry as the best football analyst on radio.

The marquee match-up of Week 1 could very well be the Bears and Chargers tilt. The Bears finished with a 13-3 regular season record - best in the NFC – and reached the Super Bowl where they lost to Indianapolis. San Diego posted the best regular season mark (14-2) in the entire NFL before losing at Qualcomm Stadium in the AFC playoffs 24-21 to the New England Patriots.

The Chargers feature a two-headed offensive monster in running back LaDainian Tomlinson and quarterback Philip Rivers. Tomlinson led all NFL rushers with 1815 yards and caught 56 passes for 508 yards.

Chicago reached the Super Bowl on the strong play of their defense. The Bears were the no.3 ranked defense in the NFL last season giving up an average of only 256.0 total yards per game and a stingy 78 yards per game on the ground.
