MTV Launches Canadian version of "Made"
Posted on Thursday, June 21, 2007 - 02:40 PM
MTV Canada

MTV announced today that the first Canadian episode based on the hit MTV series "Made" will debut on Monday, July 16 at 10 p.m. ET. The Winner of a 2007 Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Series, MTV's "Made" is a format that documents the lives of young adults who embark on a mission to transform their life. MTV provides each of them with a coach to talk to them about their dreams and help make them a reality and then follows them as they try to transform themselves socially, physically, mentally, and emotionally over time to reach their respective goals.

Filmed, produced, and edited in Canada by MTV's in house Field & Documentary Department, the debut episode of "Made" features Nicole, a shy 17-year-old conservative sea cadet and self-professed loner. Nicole wants her final year of high school to be memorable and to ensure she's not remembered for being a loner and a klutz, but as for someone outgoing and with style. Nicole has decided she wants to be made into a hip-hop dancer and perform at her school's annual dance assembly -- in six short weeks.

Helping Nicole in her quest to be made into a hip-hop dancer is dancer/choreographer Stacy Simpson, a.k.a. "Ponytailz," known in Canada and around the world for her abilities as a freestyle dancer and choreographer. Tough but fair, Ponytailz tells Nicole she will have to become more aggressive in order to become a hip-hop dancer and immediately has her working on some basic moves, which doesn't go very well. MTV also recruited fitness trainer and former lightweight body building champion Sean Martin to whip Nicole into hip-hop shape, but although she wants to change her image she's not happy about the tough workouts and strict nutritional changes she must follow. Is Nicole up to the challenge?

In addition to the television broadcast, MTV will broadcast the new episodes of "Made" online on MTV.ca along with a special broadband exclusive After Show, "Life After Made," where Nicole returns to discuss how her life has changed since the episode of "Made" has aired.

The next Canadian episode of "Made" features Brittany, a star athlete, who wants to become a singer with her ultimate goal being to audition for "Canadian Idol." "Made: Pop Singer" premieres on Monday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET. Canadians who want to get made in additional episodes should visit mtv.ca/made to learn how.

MTV's "Made" is produced by MTV Productions; a division of CTV Inc.
