Third Girl Eliminated from "Canada's Next Top Model"
Posted on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 - 09:16 PM
CITY-TV

Steff, a student from Cornwall, Ontario, became the third girl eliminated on "Canada's Next Top Model", reducing the pool from eight girls to seven.

In Episode Three, the girls meet their match - Runway Master - Miss J Alexander! He makes a grand entrance at the Hershey Centre Arena before giving the girls their first lesson in how to strut their stuff. Along with some hunky hockey players, he has the models practice skating with grace and poise. Everyone manages to stay on their feet except for Mo, who has never skated before. Then, Miss J has them strap on their pumps to demonstrate their best runway walk. He thinks Steff has a lot of personality on the runway, but Tia "must control her money maker" a little more. Mo does OK but needs longer, more confident strides and Rebecca needs to work on her overall posture. Cori breaks down because of the criticism she receives, but recovers in the end. Miss J's biggest problem with Gina is that her head bobbles as she walks, but finally, Tara impresses J with her confident, well-poised walk.

Putting them straight to the test, the models head to "MuchOnDemand", where an audience is ready to critique them on what they’ve just learned. Model Coach Stacey McKenzie and Miss J give them pink cat suits and veils to cover their faces. The audience only needs to see how they walk, not what they look like. Armed with different household items, (a Swiffer, a toilet brush, a duster), the girls give it their best shot. It's a close call, but Tara is victorious and receives a diamond watch! Back at the house, the other girls are annoyed because Tara flaunts her new watch, her new weave and her new found confidence in front of everyone.

The next day, Nole meets the girls for their photo shoot challenge - a television spot for Venus Breeze razors. Gina does a decent job, but doesn't make much of an impression. Mo's accent gets in the way of her pronunciation and Cori overacts a little, but manages to impress Nole. Rebecca has a hard time remembering her lines resulting in an emotionless delivery. Despite having no acting experience, Sinead hits a home run. Steff is confident going in, but has such a problem remembering the script, Nole brings in cue cards. Tia gets upset because she has a hard time remembering lines due to her dyslexia, but in the end, she does a good job.

The next day, Miss J gives the girls one final test at elimination - walking in a very tight pencil skirt up-and-down stairs! Some fair better than others, but they all need work. This week, the judges are disappointed with everyone's performance. They feel no one really stepped up. Finally, it comes down to Steff and Cori. Although Steff's personality is strong, the judges feel her modelling skills have gone as far as they can. After being in the bottom two for the first two weeks, Steff is sent home.

Next Week ... a favourite "Degrassi" student gives the models their media challenge!
