CanWest MediaWorks Announces Global Television, E! Primetime Schedules For 2007-2008
Posted on Sunday, June 10, 2007 - 10:25 AM
Global Television Network

Kathleen Dore, President, Canadian Television for CanWest MediaWorks, along with Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production, have announced last wednesday the Fall 2007 Primetime Schedules for the Global Television and E! networks.

"For both our advertisers and our audience, CanWest's 2007-2008 schedules represent our most impressive primetime offering to date," said Dore. "With a Fall season that features both the powerful return of Global Television, and the debut of the all-new E! network, CanWest is uniquely positioned to deliver an unparalleled primetime experience. We're passionate about the continued growth of our many television brands, and more determined than ever before to build strategically on the successes we've achieved over this last year."

In addition to 15 new series showcasing the season's tightest mix of starpower and award-winning writing/producing talent, the Global and E! primetime lineups unveiled today feature the return of breakout hits that have firmly re-established the networks' loyal fan base over the last two years. With a total of eight series back for their sophomore run - including smashes 'Heroes' and 'Brothers & Sisters' - and an additional six series returning for their third season - CanWest has created the country's freshest, most vibrant primetime lineups.

Global Television new arrivals include...big-buzz TV Newser, BACK TO YOU: from Exec Producers Steven Levitan, Christopher Lloyd and Director James Burrows, starring Emmy Winners Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton...Latin family epic, CANE: from Exec Producers Cynthia Cidre (Mambo Kings), Jimmy Iovine (8 Mile) and Jonathan Prince (American Dreams), starring Emmy and Golden Globe Winner Jimmy Smits...Romantic time-travel mystery, JOURNEYMAN: from Emmy Award-winning writer-producers Kevin Falls and Alex Graves (The West Wing), starring Kevin McKidd (Rome)...Offbeat detective saga, LIFE: from Exec Producers Rand Ravich (The Astronaut's Wife) and Far Shariat (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind), starring Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers), Adam Arkin (Chicago Hope)...and gritty legal drama, CANTERBURY'S LAW: from Exec Producers Denis Leary and Jim Serpico (Rescue Me, The Job), starring Julianna Margulies (The Sopranos, ER).

E!'s debut slate includes...Vegas-inspired musical drama VIVA LAUGHLIN: from Tony and Emmy Award winner Hugh Jackman, starring Lloyd Owen and Melanie Griffith...Hi-tech drama, BIONIC WOMAN: from Exec Producer David Eick (Battlestar Galactica) and starring Michelle Ryan (EastEnders)...The female mind revealed in CASHMERE MAFIA: from Exec Producer Darren Starr (Sex and The City), starring Lucy Liu and Frances O'Connor...Post-Katrina cop drama, K-VILLE: from Writer and Exec Producer Jonathan Lisco (Jack and Bobby), starring Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser...and E! NEWS from Exec Producer Peggy Jo Abraham, Lead Anchor and Managing Editor Ryan Seacrest and Co-Anchor Giuliana DePandi.

Returning 2007 Canadian highlights also include a 7th critically-acclaimed season of Canada's #1 National newscast, Global National, with Multi-Gemini-winning Anchor, Kevin Newman. Also topping audience radar is the return of Canada's #1 celebrity news magazine, Entertainment Tonight Canada, with Host Cheryl Hickey and ET Senior Reporters Rick Campanelli, Rosey Edeh, Roz Weston and Kim D'Eon. Heading into its 3rd season, ET Canada continues to lead the way - delivering more breaking coverage, in-depth profiles, and behind the scenes exclusives than any other Canadian entertainment news operation.
