Animal Planet Announces its fall 2007 programming highlights
Posted on Tuesday, June 05, 2007 - 07:46 PM
Animal Planet

Whether in the backyard or on safari, Animal Planet brings the animal kingdom to viewer’s living rooms with entrancing new series and specials. Covering the warm and cuddly to the aggressive and predatorial, Animal Planet has it all this Fall.

One of the strongest instincts within any animal is to claim and fight for territory. “Animal Battlegrounds” focuses on the importance of terrain and how it becomes a key factor in the life-and-death struggles of the animal kingdom. Each episode of this 13-part series examines a new environment and profiles the variety of animals that attempt to assert it as their own. Watch and learn the mysterious ways in which nature defines its own battleground and gain unique insight into how animals protect their turf.

The brothers of New Skete, an order of Eastern Orthodox monks, reach enlightenment in a very unique way: by raising dogs. In “Divine Canine With The Monks of New Skete,” the monks have deeply spiritual relationships with their canine companions and use the bonds they share with the animals to gain a more profound appreciation of nature and the mystery of God. Each episode of this 16-part series follows Brother Christopher and the other monks as they breed adorable German shepherd puppies and raise them along with the visiting dogs they train at their picturesque 500-acre monastic community in Cambridge, N.Y. Watch as their holistic training approach can turn even the most resilient of misbehaving dogs into loving and obedient companions, to the delight of their previously frustrated human families.

Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, hosts an hour-long special about what it was like growing up with her famous dad. “My Daddy The Croc Hunter”
provides a private look into Irwin family life. This endearing special is a touching tribute to the late wildlife icon and a must-see for any Irwin fan.

Look out for “Animal Precinct” and “Most Extreme” when they return to Animal Planet with new episodes this fall.
