OLN announced today the addition of six new series and two new specials to their action-packed schedule beginning Fall 2007, including: "Excellent Adventures," "Chasers," "Word Travels," "Odyssey Drive Around the World," "Departures," "Bull Run: Cops, Cars and Superstars," "A Map for Saturday" and "Forgotten Island." In addition to the new series and specials joining OLN's fall schedule, 15 of the channel's most popular programs and events return to the schedule with new episodes, including: "Survivorman," "The Amazing Race," "Mantracker," "The Rig," "Crash Addicts," "Angry Planet," "Road Hockey Rumble," "Pilot Guides," "Tour De France," "Dakar Rally," "Iditarod Sled Dog Race," "Wrangler National Finals Rodeo," "PBR World Finals," and "The 2007 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show."
This fall, OLN travels around the world with some serious road warriors. Hop the barbed wire fence into the impound lot in the new series "Chasers" for an in-depth look at the life of a tow truck driver. From responding to breakdowns and fatalities to bizarre events on the road, this 13-part series exposes the underbelly of the rough and tumble towing industry. In the new series "Odyssey Drive Around the World" seven strangers seeking adventure drive around the world in an awe-inspiring expedition spanning nearly two years. From Mexico to China and across Eastern Europe, follow the group's gripping journey across 27 countries. Throughout the 12-part series, extreme weather, border disputes and traffic accidents threaten this amazing journey, but will it keep the crew from reaching their destination? Finally, a hundred of the world's premiere super-cars embark on an invite-only eight day rolling party across the U.S.A. On the agenda: epic adventure, hard partying with celebrities, 'petrosexuals' and of course, good ol' driving. Throughout the 31-part series "Bull Run: Cops, Cars and Superstars," celebrity appearances include Denis Rodman, Ashley Hames, Paris Hilton and Canada's home-grown Hayden Christiansen.
Go on the ultimate expeditions - where the journey is more important than the destination - in three new OLN series and two new specials. In each episode of the new six-part series "Excellent Adventures" a celebrity (including Minnie Driver and Vinnie Jones) grabs their best friend and takes off on the whirlwind adventure of their dreams, including mountain climbing in the arctic and trekking across Mongolia. Then, best buds Scott and Justin are out to prove that we are never more than six degrees of separation away from the most exciting and exotic destinations in the world. In the new series "Departures," watch this duo defy the 9-to-5 lifestyle as they head off in search of unique experiences and adventures abroad - no safety net allowed. Then, in the new special "A Map for Saturday," follow Emmy Award-winning producer Brook Silva-Braga as he leaves his cushy job with American TV Network HBO to backpack around the world. Silva-Braga schleps 2.5 kilograms of clothes and 13 kilograms of video equipment across four continents on his adventure for self discovery. Unveil a hidden world of long term solo travellers that at times can be lonely and difficult, but is more often joyous and always adventurous.
In "Word Travels," go behind the byline as two top travel writers, Robin Esrock and Julia Dimon, battle it out for the best on-the-road scoop, in this new 13-part series. Under pressure and tight deadlines, Esrock and Dimon compete for stories while covering six continents on a 13-week assignment. Finally, in "Forgotten Island" journey to one of the last paradises on Earth: the forgotten island of Socotra. Referred to as The Island of the Phoenix, with long white coral beaches and emerald-green waters Socotra is considered to be the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean.
OLN's hit show "Survivorman" returns for a second season to entertain and bewilder viewers in this genuine and truly authentic reality show. With no production crew, food, water or supplies except for his own camera equipment, survival expert Les Stroud will brave the harshest locations in Africa, Australia, South America and Indonesia to challenge his survival skills for seven days at a time with no outside contact. Also back is the heart-pounding 10th season of the Emmy Award-winning series "The Amazing Race." Watch as 11 teams of two trek around the world for approximately 30 days. At every destination, each team will have to compete in a series of challenges - some mental and some physical - and only when the tasks have been completed will they learn their next destination. Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses with the winning team arriving first at the final destination. Finally, Ian Wright and Justine Shapiro return with new locales and globetrotting adventure on "Pilot Guides."
Fresh off the recent Barenaked Ladies tour, Ed Robertson is back with 13 all-new episodes of "Ed's Up" This season floats have been added to Robertson's Cessna and, en route to each challenge, he must find a body of water to land on. Only if he successfully completes his journey will he be awarded his floatplane license, thus achieving his childhood dream. It's anyone's guess how Robertson will handle the gruelling tasks thrown his way this season, including: astronaut training with NASA, working in a New York city hospital, Canadian Air Force boot camp, NASCAR pit crew, and learning the ropes at a slaughterhouse in Alberta.
They get knocked down, but they always return for more - OLN's roughest toughest guys are back! "Angry Planet" host George Kourounis just can't get enough of the world's wildest weather and in 2008 he returns with 13 brand new episodes exposing Mother Nature's dark side. Facing tougher terrain and challenges than ever before, two new prey attempts to outrun and outwit Mantracker throughout all new episodes of "Mantracker." In season two of "The Rig: Oil Sands," travel to one of the largest rig camps in the entire oil sands project where hundreds of young men struggle to hit pay dirt in the greatest blue-collar cash haul since the gold rush. Hop aboard the demolition derby circuit for a smash-up new season of car crunching chaos on "Crash Addicts," featuring usual suspects Tammy, Sweetleaf, White Hot and The Birminator revving their engines up with a vengeance. Finally, road hockey fans rejoice! "Road Hockey Rumble" returns in 2008 for an all-new cross country grudge match series of Canada's unofficial national sport.
This fall, hold onto your hat as OLN saddles up for a new season of special event programming featuring all things rodeo. The prestigious "Professional Bull Riding Built Ford Tough Series" returns to OLN, culminating in the "2007 Professional Bull Riding World Finals" showcasing the greatest bull riding athletes over two weeks in Las Vegas. This marquee event represents the crown jewel of the 31-city tour and features the year's top 45 bull riders who qualify based on money won during the regular season.
Also returning to OLN this fall: the "Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show" second-oldest sporting event in the U.S. after the Kentucky Derby, is back to crown a new pooch as "best in show." Returning in the winter through to the summer of 2008, OLN is the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of adrenaline charged events like "Tour De France," "Dakar Rally" and "2007 Iditarod Sled Dog Race."
