| Addison "Spins Off" to Los Angeles in a Special Grey's Anatomy |

Seattle Grace's favourite redhead is taking a temporary leave in a special two-hour Grey's Anatomy airing Thursday, May 3 at 9 p.m. ET. The episode follows all-new episodes of ER and CSI airing on this date only at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET respectively on CTV. The special episode, rumoured to be a pilot for a Grey's Anatomy spin-off called "Private Practice," features an all-star guest cast including Taye Diggs (Rent, Day Break), Tim Daly (The Fugitive, The Nine), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break) and Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy).

In the episode entitled "The Other Side of This Life," Addison takes a road trip to Los Angeles in order to visit some old friends from medical school. As Meredith continues to bond with her stepmother Susan, Cristina reluctantly plans her wedding with the assistance of her mother, Helen, and Burke's mother Mama Jane (guest star Diahann Carroll). Meanwhile, Derek must perform emergency surgery on Ava/Jane Doe (recurring guest star Elizabeth Reaser, Sweetland), as Alex continues his unfailing bedside manner with her.
In addition to those mentioned above, the guest cast in the special two-hour episode also includes Merrin Dungey (Alias) and Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars).
Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey, Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang, Isaiah Washington as Preston Burke, Katherine Heigl as Isobel "Izzie" Stevens, Justin Chambers as Alex Karev, T.R. Knight as George O'Malley, Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, James Pickens, Jr. as Richard Webber, Kate Walsh as Addison Shepherd, Sara Ramirez as Callie Torres and Eric Dane as Mark Sloan. "The Other Side of This Life" was written by Shonda Rhimes and directed by Michael Grossman.
