Showcase Airs Gutsier and More Biting Billable Hours

Armed with more extreme office antics and even grittier humour, the Showcase Original series Billable Hours returns for a second season. When it launched last year, Billable Hours achieved the highest ratings for a premiere episode of any Showcase Original scripted series.

Co-created by Fabrizio Filippo (who also stars in the series) and Adam Till, Billable Hours follows a group of bored young lawyers trapped in the monotony of corporate life. The show was amped up this season in order to fully embrace the dark side of the corporate world. "Although we were very pleased with the first season, we saw an opportunity to really explore the insanity of office life," says Executive Producer Ivan Schneeberg. "The office world can be a place that's full of pettiness and dysfunction, and we wanted to push those boundaries. We've made a show that's fearless and hilarious."

Show runner and Executive Producer Frank van Keeken was brought on board for the new season. Having worked as a writer on Kids in the Hall and Mad About You, van Keeken returns to Canada after ten years in Hollywood. "My mandate for the show was to make it as cynical and fast-moving as possible. All these characters are bitter and spiteful, and they make no apologies for it. In one storyline, in order to steal attention from his friends, Sam's character pretends to have breast cancer allowing him get to second base with one of his female colleagues. But despite their callous attitudes, there's something redeeming about the characters and you end up loving them for it," says van Keeken. Executive Producer David Fortier adds: "Having the opportunity to work with such a veteran of both U.S. and Canadian television has been a great addition to an already stellar writing and production team."

Tara Ellis, VP of Content at Showcase, says: ""We're thrilled that we've been able to extend the series by producing ten original webisodes exclusively for showcase.ca - they're a great example of the clever brand of humour that is Billable Hours and will be a great 'extra' for fans."

In addition to Filippo (as Sam Caponelli), Billable Hours returns with Brandon Firla (Clark Claxton III), Jennifer Baxter (Robin Howland), Aron Tager (Morty Fagen), Jayne Eastwood (Maxine Bingly), Ron Gabriel (Seth Kaplan), Mike Beaver (Murray Stipple), Ennis Esmer (Zoltan), and Peter Keleghan (Clark Claxton Sr.). They are joined by new series regulars Arnold Pinnock (Vic Laghm), Robin Brűlé (Millie Larkin) and David Alpay (Roderick Stelmackie).

New Season Premieres in HD on Sunday, April 22 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT
