bpm:tv has announced the award-winning electronic music documentary Put the Needle on the Record will have its world broadcast premiere on its dance network Saturday, March 10th at 9 PM (ET). Filmed in Miami during the ultra-hot Winter Music Conference, this 80-minute documentary explores the evolution and growing global phenomena of both electronic music and its DJs in pop culture.

Put the Needle on the Record features interviews with high-profile artists leading this revolutionary music movement, footage from international music events, and a must-be-heard dance soundtrack.

Rosemary Fusca, Head of Programming for bpm:tv, says this energized documentary profoundly epitomizes her all-dance, all-the-time, digital television network. “This Needle is more than on the record, it is totally on target when it comes to capturing the passion, creativity, and culture of those who love and live this genre of music. We are so thrilled to be selected as the first broadcaster on the planet to air this and to be able to share this incredibly entertaining film with our dance nation.”

First-time Director, Jason Rem, readily agreed that an incomparable natural synergy exists between his film and the beats-per-minute dance network. “I quickly learned when I started this project that the electronic music scene is a world to itself. Those involved in it, think and behave different than the mainstream masses. The connection DJs and dancers have to “their” music is complex, intriguing, and incredibly powerful – and that is what I tried to communicate with this film”.

Rem’s breakthrough film has been internationally recognized and applauded as “A perfect example of documentary filmmaking at its absolute best”. An encore presentation of Put the Needle on the Record airs Sunday, March 11th at 9 PM (ET) on bpm:tv.

bpm:tv is a digital television service Canadian-owned and independently operated by Stornoway Communications of Toronto. Stornoway Communications also operates two additional digital television services – ichannel and The Pet Network.
