| Production Begins on Season 2 of Rent-A-Goalie |

Showcase is pleased to announce that principal photography begins on February 5th on ten new half-hour comedy episodes of Rent-A-Goalie - the Showcase Original HD series that's become a fan favourite. Cake (series creator Christopher Bolton), continues his struggle to change his life - one goal at a time. Joining him this season are hockey greats Phil Esposito, Tony Esposito, Darryl Sittler, Mike Palmateer and Tie Domi as well as Michael Landsberg of TSN's Off The Record.
Rent-A-Goalie marries the industry of rental goalies to the world of a coffee shop in Toronto's Little Italy. The series, created by Christopher Bolton (star of My Secret Identity, series regular on Street Time and The State Within, and 2007 ACTRA Award nominee for Outstanding Male Performance in Rent-A-Goalie), continues production in Etobicoke, Ontario through April 6, 2007 with a Showcase broadcast slated for Fall 2007.
"Rent-A-Goalie has been enthusiastically received by Showcase viewers and we're thrilled that we've been able to increase our order from 8 to 10 new episodes this season," says Tara Ellis, Vice-President of Content for Showcase. "And of course, we're so proud of Chris Bolton's ACTRA award nomination - no small feat in such a competitive category."
Cake, the hockey-crazed recovered-from-everything go-to guy we've grown to love, has won over the patrons of Café Primo - a gathering place offering the perfect blend of hockey, machismo, Italian-Canadian customs and, of course, coffee.
In this second season, Café Primo proudly re-opens after the fire set at the end of last season by crazy jinxed goalie Harry "Hey-O" Bontar. But the new Café isn't safe for long. Cake and his new home are threatened by a rabid rodent; his business is in jeopardy when the goalies go on strike and Cake is soon forced to draw on his cage fighting past. He struggles to maintain his calm when a Tie Domi charity event gets ugly and a daring rescue to the darkest depths of suburbia goes bad. Through it all, Cake supplies goalies to local hockey teams that find themselves with an empty net, all the while trying to live by The Code - an ever-evolving set of personal ethics, spiritual maxims and credos that keep him on the straight and narrow - most of the time.
