Luck of the Irish brings St. Patrick day programming

The Biography Channel announced that it will be raising a glass to St. Paddy with programming that celebrates Irish heritage. The day long St. Patrick's Day schedule begins at 10a.m. (ET) on Sunday, March 16th and includes biographies of some of the most well-known personalities of Irish heritage such as Maureen O'Hara, Joseph P. Kennedy, Peter O'Toole and St. Patrick himself, the patron saint of Ireland. This special Biography Channel programming gives viewers the opportunity to discover a thing or two about what it really means to be Irish. Programming Highlights - A Celebration of Irish Heritage: Sunday, March 16 Saint Patrick Shot in England, Ireland, and Wales, the biography travels to the fifth century to explore Patrick's transformation from privileged aristocrat to tormented slave to missionary hero. Follow his enslavement by the Celts, escape to Wales, and attempts to change pagan behavior. Air Time: 10am ET/7am PT Joseph P. Kennedy A portrait of the iron-fisted patriarch who wheeled and dealed his way to wealth and power. This documentary includes a look at his shady affairs in Wall Street boardrooms and Hollywood bedrooms. Air Time: 9am ET/10am PT Ronald Reagan Trace the real life drama behind a life story that's as spectacular as any Hollywood movie. The many lives of Ronald Reagan--movie actor, TV star, governor, president --are explored in a personal journey from his boyhood to presidency. Air Time: 12pm ET/9am PT John Ford This profile of the great director who won four Oscars and made 112 films, including "The Grapes of Wrath", "The Quiet Man", and "Stagecoach". This biography Includes excerpts from rare Ford interviews and reminiscences by Jimmy Stewart and Katharine Hepburn. Air Time: 1pm ET/10am PT The Huston (2 hours) This is a special two hour chronicle of one of filmdom's great families: Walter, John and Angelica Huston. This documentary recalls Walter's legendary performances, John's wild escapades and brilliant directing career, and Angelica's triumphs in "Prizzi's Honor" and "Enemies: A Love Story". Air Time: 2pm ET/11am PT Maureen O'Hara This portrait of the star that stood toe-to-toe with Hollywood's toughest leading men illustrates how she put fire, brimstone, and beauty into her roles. Includes clips from O'Hara's best-loved films, and looks at her love affairs that were plagued by divorce, scandal, and tragedy. Anthony Quinn, director Chris Columbus, and her brother are interviewed. Air Time: 4pm ET/1pmPT Peter O'Toole One of the greatest English actors of the 20th century, Peter O'Toole burst onto the scene in the epic "Lawrence of Arabia" and nurtured a reputation as a larger-than-life lothario in love with liquor and language. This biography includes fabulous film and stage footage and interviews with daughter Kate and former wife Sian Phillips round out his story. Air Time: 5pm ET/ 2pm PT Oscar Wilde The life of the legendary writer and wit who was the toast of London in the 1890s, but who ended his days alone after a homosexual affair led to his imprisonment. Air Time: 6pm ET/ 3pm PT Maureen Forrester This Montreal-born singer was known as a down-to-earth diva - enjoying her role as the witch in Hansel and Gretel as much as singing in the major opera house in Europe. She began singing in church choirs and went on to become one of the greatest interpreters of Mahler lieder the world has ever known producing scores of recordings, and giving more than 100 concerts a year.
