Viewers will use their wireless phone to vote in the new French music talent show "Star Académie", Rogers AT&T and LIPSO announced on February 13th. They will be able to communicate with the show’s participants in real-time, a first in Quebec.

Pascale Wilhelmy will host the show on Monday thru Thursday and Julie Snyder will host on Sundays. It will run for 10 weeks, starting February 16, on TVA.

Short Message Service (SMS) is commonly used on television in Europe and it is a huge success. The British version of the reality show "Big Brother" in which viewers could decide on the outcome of the show, generated 10.2 million SMS messages of which 5.4 million were votes, whereas the German edition of MTV's "Videoclash" generates on its own up to 40,000 votes an hour through SMS.
