| Rent-A-Goalie Renewed for Second Season |
| Posted
on Thursday, November 23, 2006 - 10:55 AM |
Rent-A-Goalie is back on the ice for a second season next Fall. Production on the Showcase Original comedy series about a man struggling to redeem himself by renting goalies while constantly being challenged by his checkered past begins in late January in Toronto. Season Two will air on Showcase in Fall 2007.
Viewers who missed the first season on Showcase can catch it from the beginning starting Sunday, November 26 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes repeat on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
"Rent-A-Goalie has been enthusiastically received by Showcase viewers as a fresh new comedy show with a lot of heart - we look forward to gaining new loyal fans with the second play of Season One. And it's very exciting that legendary hockey stars and celebrities are already expressing interest in being a part of Season 2," says Tara Ellis, Vice-President of Content for Showcase. Guest stars in Season One
included Phil Esposito, Dave "Tiger" Williams and Darryl Sittler.
Cake (series creator Christopher Bolton) plays a hockey-crazed recovered-from-everything go-to guy who supplies goalies to local hockey teams while trying to live by "The Code," an ever-evolving set of personal ethics, spiritual maxims and credos that keep him on the straight and narrow. Cake's past comes back to haunt him in various wacky forms - including Malta, a she-goalie who's also Cake's crazy and dangerous ex-lover, and Solongo, Cake's Mongolian gay netminding husband. Meanwhile, he is responsible for an eccentric but lovable group of goalies including Looch (a big talker), Puker (who gets sick to his stomach before every game), Shortbus (a timid but determined player) and Shitpants (who earned his nickname after an unfortunate, highly caffeinated, accident).
Christopher Bolton, Nicholas J. Gray and Christopher Szarka serve as Executive Producers on Rent-A-Goalie. The series is co-written by Christopher Bolton and Creative Producer Graeme Manson. Rent-A-Goalie is a Georgian Inc. / RAG-TV Inc Production.
