Bell Canada today announced the availability of TSN Extra and CBC News Plus, two interactive TV (iTV) services for its ExpressVu service. With the addition of TSN Extra and CBC News Plus programming, customers can now choose the news and sports they want to see, when they want to see it, in a fully interactive and on-demand environment.
TSN Extra and CBC News Plus iTV programming allows customers to gain more detail on specific news and sports stories from a list of the latest headlines while watching the regular broadcast at the same time. For example, users can press SELECT on their ExpressVu remote while watching TSN to launch TSN Extra. Users can now browse the latest sporting news, scores, and statistics while watching the regular TSN broadcast. Simply press SELECT or press * to toggle between full-screen TV and iTV views.

"Interactive television services are rapidly changing the way Canadians watch and experience television," said Pat Button, Vice President, Marketing, ExpressVu service from Bell. "iTV programming from Bell is unmatched in the industry. CBC News Plus and TSN Extra are excellent programming additions for ExpressVu and our iTV customers."
CBC News Plus and TSN Extra are two popular additions to an already rich and diverse ExpressVu iTV line-up that includes Weather Network Interactive, Playin™ Casino, Buzztime Trivia, NHL® Centre Ice with MultiVu and NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive.
CBC News Plus lets viewers access news stories "on demand"™, by simply pressing the SELECT button on their TV remote while watching CBC Newsworld on channel 502. Bell customers can browse the latest headlines and read stories and features on everything from world and business news as well as in-depth health, lifestyle and technology coverage.
"Bell, through its ExpressVu service, is a recognized leader in iTV and we are proud to be adding CBC News Plus to the programming line-up," said Bob Kerr, Director, Business & Platform Development for CBC. "CBC News Plus will deliver content to viewers " in an intuitive, smart way" that will make their interactive TV-viewing experience richer and more informative than ever."
TSN Extra gives users fast access to the latest sporting news, scores, standings and statistics by simply pressing the SELECT button on their remote while watching TSN on channel 400. For diehard sports fans who can't get enough game action, TSN Extra delivers the latest sports stories, scores, statistics, news and information all while watching regular TSN programming.
"This latest initiative positions TSN at the forefront of Canadian digital media technology when it comes to sports television," said Phil King, TSN President. "We are thrilled to be part of the ExpressVu iTV line-up, as it offers TSN an opportunity to expand into new areas, while at the same time providing fans with a variety of options as to how they receive our content."
TSN Extra and CBC News Plus follow the ExpressVu launch of the hugely popular NHL® Centre Ice with MultiVu service, which enables NHL Centre Ice subscribers to view up to six hockey games at once, all on one screen with real-time scores, goal and power play alerts right on the TV. When there are more than six concurrent NHL games, viewers can track the additional games by viewing the live scores and alerts in the "ticker" at the bottom of the screen.
Enhanced iTV services like CBC New Plus, TSN Extra and NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive are available on these iTV-ready receiver models from ExpressVu: 3100, 4100, 5100, 5800, 5900, 6100. NHL® Centre Ice with MultiVu is also available on these receivers, as well as the 3200, 5200 and 9200.
