| OLN Exposes The Wildcat World of Alberta’s Oil Rigs |
| Posted
on Wednesday, October 04, 2006 - 12:00 AM |
There are fortunes to be made in the oil fields of Alberta, but working on a rig is a filthy, backbreaking job. Enter the world of Alberta’s oil industry and find out which “riggers” will hack it long enough to reap the rewards and make a career for themselves amidst the black gold, on OLN’s original 13-part series The Rig.
The Rig focuses on the crew of Poncho Well Servicing Ltd. – a drilling rig company based in central and northern Alberta. Throughout the series, witness the day-to-day grind and the off-hours antics on Poncho’s rig #108. Discover the physical and emotional trials and the shifting dynamics of the rig’s three crews; including members of the rough and tough drilling crew, geologists, engineers, their city-based bosses and the eclectic support community that keeps the camp running.
Many of the drilling locations take the crew hundreds of kilometres from home separating them from family, friends and loved ones for weeks at a time. Juggling their grueling work schedules with their personal lives is especially tricky for the family men, but for the bachelors in the crew, making the most of downtime isn’t a problem. For the swinging bachelors of Poncho 108’s crew, there’s always a new toy to buy, party to be thrown and trouble to get into, with no shortage of money to make it all happen!
