OLN's Tough Turkeys Marathon, Oct. 7-9
Posted on Friday, September 29, 2006 - 12:00 AM
Outdoor Life Network

This Thanksgiving, OLN has rustled up some seriously rugged, adventurous programming. Each day, catch back-to-back episodes of OLN's top series Mantracker, Long Way Round and Wanted: Ted or Alive during OLN's Tough Turkeys Marathon.

OLN's Tough Turkeys Marathon breaks down as follows:

Mantracker
Sat., Oct. 7 from 3 p.m. - Midnight ET/Noon - 9 p.m. PT

Today, OLN will air nine hours of back-to-back episodes of Mantracker, the ultimate cat and mouse chase through the Canadian wilderness. Meet Mantracker, a veteran cowboy and expert outdoorsman trained by the RCMP to track and retrieve missing persons in the bush. He is totally unflappable - even when tracking in extreme weather conditions - and to him, this is no game. His reputation is on the line and he will stop at nothing to catch his prey.

Throughout each half-hour episode, a pair of perfect strangers from different walks of life team up and attempt to outwit and outrun Mantracker to the finish line. For an adrenaline-charged 36 hours, the pairs travel through extremely difficult terrain in regions including the Yukon, Alberta's foothills or Northern Ontario. Trekking through deep woods, rugged rock face and rushing rivers, the prey has a head start, but these adventurers have a target on their backs every step of the way.

Long Way Round
Sun., Oct. 8 from 3 p.m. - Midnight ET/Noon - 9 p.m. PT

Travel around the world in a single day as OLN presents nine back-to-back episodes of Long Way Round. Trading the red carpet for the open road, follow actors and friends Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Star Wars) and Charley Boorman (Deliverance, Excalibur) as they chronicle their four-month transcontinental motorcycle journey in the new seven-part series Long Way Round. Friends since 1997, McGregor and Boorman share a passion for motorcycles. In 2003 they decided to make a seemingly impossible dream come true: to ride motorcycles from London to New York, the long way. Throughout the series' seven one-hour episodes, the two men circumnavigate the longest continuous landmass on earth - travelling through the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, Canada and the United States. Watch as they forego their comfortable lives to battle harsh terrain, soak up the stunning scenery and experience the generosity of the people they meet while travelling the Long Way Round the world.

Wanted Ted Or Alive
Mon., Oct. 9
Season One: 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. ET/Noon - 4 p.m. PT
Season Two: 9 p.m. ET - 1 a.m. ET/6 p.m. - 10 p.m. PT

Following a successful career as a internationally acclaimed recording artist spanning five decades, Ted Nugent is taking a pro-conservationist stance in his role as host of the OLN reality series Wanted Ted Or Alive. Throughout the series, legendary guitarist Nugent gives five city slickers the opportunity to spend a week in the wilderness competing against one another in challenges of survival and outdoor skill. Each challenge is worth points and the person with the most points at the end of the week will win U.S. $25,000.

Along the way, contestants discover Nugent's personal philosophies surrounding hunting, conservation and politics. "You wanna eat? You gotta kill," says Nugent during a hunting lesson. "To deny that dinner gets there by death is absolutely unacceptable." While Nugent teaches the group how to hunt and kill, he stresses at every stage how important it is to show respect towards the animal by not wasting any of it - in the loudest, most in-your-face ways possible.
