Jesus was an only child in a nuclear family, the divine son of human parents Mary and Joseph. But 2,000 years ago, the influence of the "extended family" was the norm. The traditional image of the Holy Family is questioned in this special that uses historical artefacts and ancient texts to uncover clues about the true framework of Jesus' family. Using the testimony of biblical historians, Jewish historians and archaeologists, The Real Family of Jesus takes a factual and historical look at the elements of a "typical" family in the first century compared to what is traditionally believed to be true for Jesus.
