Movie Central (MC) and The Movie Network (TMN) have acquired the Showtime Original series Brotherhood. Also premiering this july is the third season of Sling and Arrows starring Stephen Ouimette, Martha Burns and Paul Gross. New movie premiere will include Cinderalla Man starring Russel Crowe and Renée Zellweger, Serenity, the movie based on the short lived series Firefly as well as Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
BROTHERHOOD: NEW SERIES PREMIERE
The old world ways of street justice and loyalty rule in “The Hill,” an Irish-American neighbourhood in the port city of Providence, Rhode Island. Like the classic fable of Cain and Abel, the Caffee brothers are constantly teetering above a moral abyss.
Tommy (Jason Clarke), a family man and local politician, is determined to protect “The Hill,” but his world is turned upside-down after the return of his gangster brother, Mike (Jason Isaacs). Driven by their mutual resentment and rivalry, the Caffee brothers embark on a dangerous course that tests their love and loyalty like never before, creating a volatile dynamic that could destroy them and their families. Also starring Fionnula Flanagan, Annabeth Gish, Stivi Paskoski, Kevin Chapman and Ethan Embry.
This series premieres:
Movie Central: Sunday, July 9 at 7 p.m. PT
The Movie Network: Sunday, July 9 at 10 p.m. ET before moving to its regular timeslot of Mondays at 9 p.m. ET
SLINGS & ARROWS: SEASON 3 PREMIERE
With the pressure of producing another Broadway hit, and with no support from his ghostly mentor Oliver Wells (Stephen Ouimette) and on-again off-again lover Ellen (Martha Burns), Geoffrey (Paul Gross) turns to Charles Kingman (William Hutt), an aging actor who’s trying to overcome his demons and realize his dream of playing King Lear. What Geoffrey doesn’t know is that Charles is the one person holding the secret that will jeopardize the entire production, and with it, his future at the festival.
Behind-the-scenes, a battle rages between the Festival’s musical and drama companies, catching two young lovers (Aaron Abrams and Sarah Polley) in the middle.
This final season asks – is it possible to make peace with the ghosts that – sometimes literally – haunt us? Can we ever truly know ourselves? And is it crazy to dedicate one’s life to that most fabulous of invalids, the theatre? The answer is (in order): “good luck,” “probably not,” and a wonderful and overwhelming “yes.”
