Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting Announces Carriage Agreement with Bell ExpressVu for BBC Kids
Posted on Thursday, January 09, 2003 - 01:15 PM
BBC Kids

Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting today announced that it has reached an agreement with Bell ExpressVu for carriage of BBC Kids. Launched by Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting in November 2001, BBC Kids will be added to Bell ExpressVu’s Fun Zone viewing package by January 20, 2003. Bell ExpressVu’s 1.2 million customers will also enjoy a three-month free view of the channel beginning in January.

“Already available in over 250,000 Canadian homes through other distributors, BBC Kids will now be available to more than 1.2 million Bell ExpressVu subscribers,” says Phyllis Yaffe, CEO of Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting. “The channel’s lineup of inventive and exciting children’s programming will allow children to see their world in a whole new way. As the first BBC children’s channel in the world, we believe this network is a must-have for anyone with children.”

“Our customers have asked for BBC Kids and we are excited to add this top quality children’s channel to our lineup,” says Tim McGee, President of Bell ExpressVu.

The first ever BBC-branded children’s channel in the world, BBC Kids devotes 40 hours per week to commercial-free preschool programming and more than half of its broadcast hours each week to programming that is exclusive to Canada.
