Premiering Sun., June 4 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT on Discovery Civilization Channel, War Detectives chronicles some of the horrendous acts of war committed against innocent civilians in the last 100 years. This riveting four-part series follows ground-breaking investigations across the world that brought ruthless leaders and unlikely villains to justice.
Each episode of the series profiles a specific conflict and the investigation of world leaders, military officers and religious figures who were involved in callous acts of war. Throughout the series, forensic experts and skilled investigators carefully examine the evidence in each case to determine who was responsible for these war crimes. Then, follow investigators as they travel the world to locate and apprehend criminals who have eluded punishment. Can these individuals ever fully pay for their crimes?

War Detectives: "The Execution Of Tojo"
Sun., June 4 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT
General Hideki Tojo became the prime minister of Japan in October 1941. A few months later, the infamous leader ordered the attack on Pearl Harbor and led his country into war against the United States and Britain. As a result of the atrocious acts committed under his authority, Tojo was summoned before the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. This episode dissects the case that lead to Tojo's execution, the first for a head of government accused of war crimes.
War Detectives: "The Butcher of Srebrenica"
Sun., June 11 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT
In 1995, in the northern Bosnian town of Srebrenica, General Radislav Krstic led a massacre of an estimated 8,000 Bosnian males. The Srebrenica massacre is considered one of the largest mass murders in Europe since the Second World War and one of the most horrific events in recent European history. This episode recounts the large-scale investigation that included evidence collected by forensic experts at mass graves in and around Srebrenica. As a result of the investigation, Krstic was convicted of genocide charges and sentenced to 46 years in prison.
War Detectives: "In Pursuit of Eichmann"

After escaping from custody at the end of the war, it took the dedication of several individuals to locate Eichmann in Argentina and bring him to trial in Israel for his crimes. Watch as the case is built against Eichmann in an attempt to bring some measure of justice to his victims.
War Detectives: "Rwanda's Dark Secret"

In 2002, two Catholic nuns - Sister Gertrude and Sister Maria Kisito - were brought to trial for their part in the Rwanda genocide of 1994 when Hutus killed over 800,000 Tutsis across the nation. During the genocide, Sister Gertrude supplied gas for the burning of a locked garage holding 700 Tutsis and both nuns prevented Tutsis from entering the safe confines of their convent. Sister Gertrude and Sister Maria Kisito sought asylum in Belgium following the genocide, but soon their dark secret was discovered. Seven years after the Rwandan massacres, a 12-week trial took place. Watch the investigation lead to convictions of murder and incitement to genocide for both the accused.
