Animal Planet announced the addition of a second season of Xtremely Wild with Mark Miller to its summer schedule today. With new episodes premiering Mondays at 8:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. PT beginning May 15, the 13-part series dives into the trenches of animal research to study some of the most dangerous animals on the planet. Hosted by filmmaker and wildlife enthusiast Mark Miller, this new season reveals surprising and crucial information about some of the world's most exotic creatures and the unique places they call home.
Each half-hour episode is filled with some of the most wild and perilous animal adventures anywhere. From Canada's rugged west coast to the Australian Outback, from Florida's Gulf Coast to central Taiwan, Miller and the Xtremely Wild crew discover more about a vast array of animals and, in some cases, help the endangered ones return to their natural habitats.

Florida's manatees are facing a serious and surprising threat - the legislated closure of coal-fired power plants across the state. The plants are a major heat source for the animals as the hot water from their cooling systems keep the manatees warm during cold winters. Adapting their migration patterns to the construction plans of these facilities, these animals no longer know where they come from. Watch as some industrial-loving manatees take on Miller while he tries to help them return to their natural migratory patterns.

Upon closer examination the team discovers this pod of mammals contains only a single female and what should be a feeding area is actually being used as a mating ground. Xtremely Wild with Mark Miller - "Oil, Otters and a Gorilla Down"
Mon., July 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. PT
Join the Xtremely Wild crew as they head to the site of one of the worst environmental disasters in history - the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, off the Alaskan coast. Otters seem to be thriving years after the catastrophe, but the team soon discovers that these animals are still carrying the scars of that spill, generations later. Find out about the lasting effects of the oil spill when the experts try to examine these animals. Next, head to Seattle, Washington, where Nina the Gorilla fights to stay alive after a serious kidney infection. Can she survive the risky surgery needed to save her life?

Follow Miller and expert bear rangers as they chase grizzlies out of unlikely places such as swimming pools and driveways. Next, join Miller as he helps a research project monitor bear behaviour after hibernation. Can he successfully give two bears a springtime weigh in?
Xtremely Wild with Mark Miller - "737 Sinks"
Mon., July 24 at 8:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. PT
Increased fishing in the Pacific Ocean has led to the destruction of natural habitats in the area. As a result, many sea creatures have lost their homes and some even face extinction.
