Astral Media Inc. - Family Channel forced to suspend its service to Vidéotron

Since April 2002, Vidéotron unilaterally decided to pay only half of the rates it owes to Astral Media's Family Channel (under a contract allowing it to offer Family to its subscribers). Since Vidéotron is not changing its position on this matter, Family is forced to suspend its service to Vidéotron, effective immediately.
Astral Media is deeply concerned by this situation created by Vidéotron and would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the viewers and fans of Family. Astral Media is hopeful that the Family signal will be re-established as soon as possible.
The Company will not comment on this matter any further.
Astral Media is one of the largest media companies in Canada, active in specialized, pay-per-view and pay television, radio and outdoor advertising.
