| Showcase to premiere new original comedy series about over educated and under stimulated group in law firm |

They’re young, they’re brilliant, and they’re punch-drunk bored. Billable Hours, a new Showcase Original series, is set in a big downtown law firm and features a group of over-educated twenty-somethings who are smart and successful, but trapped in their exhausting legal jobs. The series, comprised of eight half-hour episodes, will have its Canadian premiere on Sunday, April 16 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. This new prime-time comedy series was created by Fabrizio Filippo (Queer as Folk) and Adam Till (The Human Kazoo).
In an environment that expects young associates to endure 80-90 hour work weeks filled with mind-numbing corporate paperwork, the hyper-intelligent young professionals of Billable Hours end up turning their attention to other things – really stupid things – to liven up their mundane existences.

Best friends Sam (Filippo) and Clark (Brandon Firla, Band of Brothers) compete for an ergonomic chair from the latest office-furniture shipment. Newbie Stu (Dov Tiefenbach, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) starts to crack under the pressure and gorges on a client’s maple-based product samples. Ambitious Robin (Jennifer Baxter, Drop the Beat) gets fed up with the firm’s sexual politics and tries to make a point by demonstrating that she could be an excellent stripper.
Until recently, these young upstarts thought working hard and building a career was the thing to do, but it’s starting to become way too much work. And all to get the opportunity to, well, do more work – kind of like a pie-eating contest where the prize is more pie.
“Billable Hours is a fresh and very funny take on a setting that will be familiar to many of our viewers – but chances are they won’t have seen anything like the over-the-top antics of our three appealing leads in this straight-laced corporate world. We are thrilled to be working with Temple Street on this quirky comedy series. It’s a great addition to the Showcase schedule,” says Tara Ellis, Vice-President of Content for Showcase.
“This series has been a lot of fun to put together for us, having come from the legal world ourselves,” says David Fortier, Executive Producer and Ivan Schneeberg, Executive Producer, Temple Street Productions. “Once upon a time, we actually practiced law with Adam Till, and that connection has helped us all bring this project to life. Temple Street is also thrilled to be working with Fab once again after working with him on Queer as Folk. We feel this show has all the ingredients to be a huge success.”
Cast regulars also include Aron Tager (Wild Card, Lives Of The Saints) as Mortie Fagen, the old and possibly senile founding father of the firm and Jane Luk (Train 48) as Cam Belter, the oddball manager of the associates. Supporting cast members include Ennis Esmer, Jayne Eastwood and Peter Keleghan.
