| CTM Canada to present The 2006 CMT Music Awards with a Canuck touch |

CMT Canada imports awards show fever as it presents the exclusive Canadian broadcast of The 2006 CMT Music Awards with a decidedly Canadian twist. The glitz and glamour come straight to the Central studios Monday, April 10, complete with live performances and a live studio audience. The celebration begins with a special broadcast of the CMT 2006 Music Awards Pre-Party at 6 p.m. ET.
While bringing you the official awards show pre-party with all the star-studded red carpet action and live performances, CMT Canada hosts a bash of its own, giving you the best of both worlds. Co-hosted by Central's Paul and Amanda Wilkinson from CMT's hit series, The Wilkinsons, this homegrown celebration takes place inside the Central studios. Comprised of 100 contest winners from sister station The New Country 95.3, the studio audience and viewers at home are treated to performances from Amanda, as well as Amanda and Paul's red-carpet commentary, while they watch the pre-show arrivals.
The awards, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, feature performances by Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, Gretchen Wilson, Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland. The nominees this year illustrate country music's growth and broadened appeal, including not only country favourites Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban, etc., but American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, Hollywood A-listers Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix, for their cover of the Johnny Cash and June Carter tune Jackson, and rockers Bon Jovi, for their collaboration with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. The 2006 CMT Music Awards air exclusively on CMT Canada on Monday, April 10. The fanfare kicks off with a look at the eight videos nominated for Video of the Year, in The 2006 CMT Music Awards Video of the Year Special, hosted by multiple CMT Music Awards nominee, Carrie Underwood at 5 p.m. Following the special, the live broadcast begins at 6 p.m. with the CMT 2006 Music Awards Pre-Party. The 2006 CMT Music Awards start at 8 p.m.
