Dave Chappelle pumps up the volume in his no-holds-barred, 90-minute stand-up special, Dave Chappelle: For What it's Worth, premiering Saturday, April 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on The Comedy Network.
Taped before a live studio audience at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore Auditorium, Chappelle lets loose on simian fornication, crack heads, the merits of smoking weed with white vs. black folk, the perils of public transportation, the pitfalls of celebrity, freedom of speech, O.J. Simpson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson and much more. His razor sharp comedy slices through all cultural stereotypes and societal taboos. Chappelle says what people could say - but won't and don't dare.
Dave Chappelle rocketed to stardom with his Emmy-nominated television series, Chappelle's Show. His irreverent characters, such as Rick James and the blind white supremacist Clayton Bigsby, are now woven into the fabric of pop-culture. He has starred in numerous stand-up television specials and films for the big screen including the recently released Dave Chappelle's Block Party with Kayne West, The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy; You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks; Con Air with Nicolas Cage; Mel Brooks' Robin Hood:
Men in Tights and more. Last spring Chappelle made headlines when he backed out of a $50 M deal with Comedy Central. Last month, in the first television interview since his departure, Chappelle appeared on Oprah stating that stress and not a breakdown or drug habit led him to leave his hit show. More recently, Comedy Central announced it will broadcast sketches from Chappelle's Show's third season filmed before his abrupt exit.
