MTV Senior Vice-President and General Manager Brad Schwartz announced today that MTV will go live on the first day of Spring, Tuesday, March 21 at 6 p.m. ET, kicked off by the debut of MTV Live - its flagship original Canadian talk series.
In the next three weeks, Canadians will be introduced to one of the world's most recognized brands - with a distinctive Canadian twist - as MTV prepares to turn on the switch and officially re-brand talktv. As the start date moves closer, MTV will continue to make content announcements highlighting its new schedule. Last week, MTV Live was announced. In the coming days, other MTV programming, both for the MTV channel as well as for the CTV network and other media platforms, will be revealed.
"Starting today, MTV is officially open for business," said Schwartz. "And there are many more exciting announcements to come."
MTV is a Canadian-led partnership between CTV, Canada's Number One television brand and MTV, the world's most valuable media brand. Bold, dynamic and interactive, MTV offers innovative lifestyle, talk and documentary programming, with a commitment to 71 per cent Canadian programming in primetime. Canadian programmed and managed, Canada's MTV is one of 49 programming services around the world. MTV in Canada reflects a uniquely Canadian culture and personality through a mixture of locally produced and globally-shared programming.
