Astral Media's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) take viewers behind-the-scenes and into the high-flying, fist-swinging world of movie stunt-making in the national broadcast premiere of the Canadian original series Stuntdawgs on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 8:30 p.m. ET on The Movie Network's MExcess and 6:30 p.m. PT on Movie Central.
In this 13-part documentary-action series, Arnold Schwarzenegger's former stunt double Peter H. Kent, fearlessly guides a team of Canadian stunt performers, riggers and coordinators as they recreate famous stunts from Hollywood movies like the motorcycle plunge from Terminator 2 and the car stunt in The Fast and the Furious. From falls off skyscrapers and full body burns to getaway car crashes and mid-air leaps, each half-hour episode features the team of stunt pros dubbed "The Dawgs" as they put a rookie through an unimaginable stunt, while revealing the planning, science and execution that goes into each act.
"We're very proud to be a part of this original series that celebrates the unsung Canadian stunt performers who have earned an international reputation for putting their lives on the line to capture action on film," said Erica Benson, Director, Canadian Independent Production, The Movie Network. "This action-packed series will demystify some of Hollywood's most difficult and daring stunts while providing a true adrenaline rush for our viewers."
"There's nothing remotely like it on television," said Gabriela Schonbach, Executive Producer of Stuntdawgs. "With his longtime experience in the stunt world, Peter H. Kent is perfectly suited to provide witty play-by-play insights into the largely unknown world of stunt-making."
For over a decade, Kent was Schwarzenegger's stunt double in 14 Hollywood films including The Terminator, Terminator 2, Terminator 3, Commando, The Last Action Hero, Total Recall and Kindergarten Cop. Filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Stuntdawgs was developed by Lauren Millar of Omni Film Productions Inc. and Peter H. Kent of Lucky Bastard Films. The series is produced by Gabriela Schonbach and David Gullason, directed by Lionel Goddard, Kelly
McClughan and Brad Quenville. Stuntdawgs is produced in association with The Movie Network, Movie Central and Super Ecran, with the support of the Canadian Television Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and Film Incentive B.C.
