New Drama from Showtime 'Sleeper Cell' to premiere on TMN & MC in december
Posted on Monday, November 07, 2005 - 09:05 AM
TMN - The Movie Network

Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral Media's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) are pleased to announce the exclusive Canadian premiere of Sleeper Cell, a suspenseful new 10-part mini-series from Showtime that lifts the veil of secrecy to reveal a riveting and authentic look at the war on terrorism. Sleeper Cell premieres Sunday, December 4 at 7 p.m. PT on Movie Central and 10 p.m. ET on The Movie Network's MMore channel. The series premieres day-and-date with Showtime in the U.S.

Starring Michael Ealy (Barbershop) and Oded Fehr (Resident Evil: Apocalypse), Sleeper Cell follows undercover F.B.I. agent Darwyn Al-Hakim as he develops contacts that enable him to infiltrate an Islamic terrorist cell in Los Angeles. The cell is led by an intimidating, charismatic extremist Farik, who considers all acts of violence moral when serving the great good of his cause. But early in the investigation something goes wrong, placing lives - and the integrity of a three-year mission - in serious jeopardy.

To allow viewers to be able to immerse themselves in this topical and suspense-filled drama, the series will be aired as a two-week television event providing the audience a chance to better absorb the authenticity, intricate storylines and involving character arcs.

The original mini-series will broadcast as follows:

* Episodes 1 to 4

Sunday, December 4 to Wednesday, December 7 at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET

* Episodes 4 to 8

Sunday, December 11 to Wednesday, December 14 at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET

* Episodes 9 and 10 will air back-to-back as a two-hour grand finale event

Sunday, December 18 at 7 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET

Sleeper Cell will also encore on both networks in January 2006 and will be broadcast as a weekly drama series (schedule to be confirmed).

Created and executive-produced by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris(Bulletproof Monk), Sleeper Cell also stars Henri Lubatti (Dark Angel), Alex Nesic (Van Wilder), Blake Shields (New Port South) and Melissa Sagemiller (The Clearing).

Sleeper Cell is a pay-TV exclusive mini-series only available on Movie Central and The Movie Network in Canada.
