Joan of Arcadia Comes to Showcase Diva

Showcase Diva

Joan of Arcadia certainly gives a whole new meaning to “teen spirit.” This series about Joan (Amber Tamblyn), a teenage girl who is frequently visited by God – in many different forms – starts Sunday, October 16 at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT), only on Showcase Diva. Joe Mantegna and Mary Steenburgen star as the struggling teen’s parents in this Emmy® and Golden Globe®-nominated series.

Joan of Arcadia taps into the sixteen-year-old inside every one of us who tries to do the right thing in the face of uncertainty," says Emily Morgan, Vice-President of Programming for Showcase Diva. "Joan grapples with what it means to be an adult and a woman. The series is thought-provoking, yet still very fun and witty – it’s a great addition for Showcase Diva’s Fall line up."

Joan (Tamblyn, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), an average teenager, has been acting a little strangely. What her family and friends don’t know is that her behaviour has to do with the unusual way various people keep popping up, introducing themselves to her as God. They ask her to help with divine work on Earth by giving her specific directions to do things such as get a job, join the debate team or volunteer with children. Joan never knows what God will look like next: one minute it's a cute boy her own age, the next it's the cafeteria lady, a little girl or a plumber. Meanwhile, she keeps her situation a secret from her family, since her parents are busy coming to terms with their new life in the town of Arcadia and grappling with the after-effects of a tragic automotive accident that left Joan’s elder brother confined to a wheelchair.
