Always at the forefront of technological innovation, TSN today announced the availability of daily podcasts featuring the network's popular sports talk show Off The Record, marking the first podcast from a Canadian sports broadcaster. The podcasts will be available on TSN.ca beginning October 3, just prior to the start of the 2005-06 NHL season.
In coming weeks, TSN will also podcast the weekly roundtable sports show TSN The Reporters with Dave Hodge, as well as hockey, football and general sports commentary from a variety of TSN personalities.
"Podcasting is a new technological frontier in mobile communications and is already generating a great deal of buzz and interest. TSN has always been proactive when it comes to servicing sports fans, and we are effectively leading the charge once again in the Canadian sports broadcast industry with this exciting new initiative," said Phil King, President, TSN.
Podcasts are audio files posted online in MP3 format, and can easily be downloaded for playback on a personal computer or transferred to a portable MP3 player. TSN will offer a subscription feed to enable automatic downloading of new podcasts through software, such as Apple's iTunes. TSN podcasts are available to users free of charge.
Off The Record with host Michael Landsberg is now in its ninth season. The 30-minute talk show features in-studio guests from the world of sports, politics and entertainment as they debate the latest issues in sports. New to the show this year are daily one-on-one, five-minute interviews at the top of each show with newsmakers from around the sports industry. Off The Record airs weekdays at 6 p.m. ET (encores at 3 a.m. ET and 12 noon ET).
