| MuchMusic VJ Search: The Series |
| Posted
on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 - 02:00 PM |
Since 1995, MuchMusic has been bringing the starpower of 'The VJ Search' to cities nationwide, offering young Canadians an unprecedented shot at one of television's top jobs. Now, Canada's original "reality tv" brand returns - taking fan access and excitement to an all-time high with the launch of an original primetime series where viewers decide who gets to be the next MuchMusic VJ.
MuchMusic VJ Search: The Series, debuting January 2006(*) - featuring 9 original hourlong episodes and an action packed 2hr. LIVE finale - delivers an exclusive 24/7 behind-the-scenes look at what's been called the toughest, most emotional job interview this group of individuals will ever experience. From the pressure of securing an audition wristband in the 21-city Canadian open auditions, to the agonizing wait for the call to semi-finals, only 20 will be selected from the thousands of entries received.
Chosen by an expert panel of judges, these 20 semi-finalists will test the odds once again - this time, on national television - facing a subsequent cut where just 10 finalists will be left standing. This lucky group will then be flown to Toronto to live at the luxurious downtown VJ Search Penthouse - where the trial by fire really begins. From the time they land, until the gruelling LIVE 2-hour elimination-style finale in which viewer voting decides ultimate VJ supremacy, these hopefuls will be faced with a variety of challenges in which they must prove their skills, style, personality and character. Can they stand the pressure of constant scrutiny, and intense competition? MuchMusic VJ Search: The Series will capture it all, and take an unvarnished look at the road to small screen stardom.
"The Much team is very excited about extending all-new content across a variety of platforms with the VJ Search brand", said David Kines, Vice President of Music and Youth Services for CHUM Television. "Because our fans are at the core of the VJ Search experience - whether auditioning at a national tour stop, creating a personal video entry, or interacting via text and muchmusic.com - we're especially focused on the opportunity to deliver a compelling series for them that's sure to be the big buzz of the new year."
Online, at www.muchmusic.com fans can log onto updated tour information, and top assets including daily blogs, photo galleries, video clips, message boards - and of course, the ultimate chance to vote and rate the VJ Search candidates - the good, the bad and the not-so-telegenic.
In an 8-week national tour running from October 3 - November 26, the MuchMusic "VJ Search Party" will descend upon malls and college/university campuses in 21 Canadian cities, beginning in Victoria, B.C. At each site, VJ hopefuls looking to fast track their 15 minutes get a chance to showcase their skills on our exclusive stage in front of a LIVE audience - all of it recorded live-to-tape, and submitted to Much for judging. In addition, each location will feature prizes, gaming and extra information questionnaires for those too cool to audition on the spot. (Fans can still make a suitably weird tape in the privacy of their own homes and send it to us later....). "The MuchMusic VJ Search" deadline for submission is Monday, December 19th 2005 @ noon ET. Fans can stay tuned to www.muchmusic.com for detailed submission info.
