Just over a year after its launch Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. has secured deals for CSI: NY in 160 territories. From France and Germany to Malaysia and Singapore, broadcasters have snapped up CSI:NY the world over.
On the heels of the breakaway ratings successes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami, international territories were primed for CSI: NY from the moment it launched for broadcast sales in early summer 2004.
"The immediate popularity and marketability of CSI: NY speaks to the power of the CSI Franchise," says Ted Riley, Executive Managing Director, International Television Distribution. "By the time CSI: NY launched, the Franchise was a bona fide blockbuster hit, whetting the international appetite for the newest, unique series with guaranteed pedigree. The momentum behind the series continues to be exciting and gratifying as CSI: NY proves popular with global audiences."
Following successful launches in 2004/2005 in Australia, Canada, the U.K., Latin America, Asia, Denmark, The Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, and many other key territories, CSI: NY continues its international roll out. The series just launched in Germany and will be launching in late 2005 and 2006 in France, Italy and Japan, among others.
On Five in the U.K. CSI: NY was the highest-rated debut for the CSI Franchise. It is the fourth most-watched U.S. drama series in the U.K., behind CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami.
CSI: NY was the fourth-ranked drama in Canada (airing on CTV) for the 2004/05 season (behind CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami) and was the most-watched series premiere of the CSI Franchise.
In Australia on Nine, CSI: NY is ranked as the country's third-highest overseas police drama (behind CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami) with a market share of 35%.
The CSI Franchise is produced by Alliance Atlantis and CBS Productions, in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Alliance Atlantis holds all worldwide distribution rights to the CSI Franchise, excluding the U.S., where CBS handles distribution.
